Nothing can be more joyous than the addition of a child to your family. A new baby brings new privileges and new responsibilities. However, as you try to become pregnant, you may find yourself struggling to conceive. This is a common obstacle. Fortunately, there are several steps you can take to help yourself become pregnant more quickly.
The first, and most important, thing you can do is relax. It may sound overly simple, but if you want to become pregnant, it is more than necessary. Elevated stress levels can limit your chances of conception. Moreover, stress, as many women know, can mess with your menstrual cycle to begin with. Trying to conceive often increases tensions in your relationship. Give up trying. Instead, enjoy your partner, and try to let things just happen.
Another thing to take into consideration when trying to become pregnant is to time your birth control accordingly. If you are taking some form of hormonal birth control, you should know that it can sometimes take over three months for the hormone's effects to leave your body and leave you ripe for conception. That does not mean that you cannot become pregnant before that, or that you will for sure become pregnant after, but it should give you an indication of different factors in the process.
Try to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle while trying to become pregnant. Weight issues often play a role in your ability to conceive, and in your ability to carry to term. Maintaining a healthy BMI, or body mass index, staying active and eating healthily can make your body more suited for pregnancy. The more you take care of yourself, the better able your body may be to become pregnant.
There are also a wide variety of supplements you can try. Some companies promote specific blends of vitamins, minerals and herbs that they argue will increase fertility, but they are incredibly expensive an have yet to be proven. If you want to become pregnant, there are far less expensive and less controversial supplements you can try. Some sites recommend Evening Primrose Oil to improve the quality of your cervical fluid, while others recommend high dosages of the vitamin B6 to increase progesterone levels and create favorable conditions in the cervix to increase the lifespan of sperm. Again, these are theories, but they may be worth a shot if you are trying to become pregnant and facing difficulties.
