A great amount of crime in todays world can be blamed on the abuse of drugs. A lot of robberies and burglaries are simply to get money to buy more drugs. It isnt fun to come home to your house and find that someone had been there and decided to take some souvenirs out the door with them. Suddenly, that jar of coins that youve been saving for months is being used to buy drugs. That television that you spent a fortune on is now being sold for a fraction of the price most likely because of someones abuse of drugs. Of course, with the economy being in shambles, people are resorting to stealing not only because of their personal abuse of drugs but as a means of survival. Perhaps they need the money to pay rent or pay for groceries.
In fact, a majority of the time, when violent crimes are committed, the perpetrators are not only motivated by their abuse of drugs and the need to ensure another score of drugs occurs, but they are probably under the influence of drugs. Sometimes, criminals arent lying when they say that they dont remember committing the crimes. Their abuse of drugs took them to the point of no return and their lapse in judgment couldnt be helped. Should they still be held accountable and responsible? Absolutely, yes. It was their choice to become addicted to drugs. There is always a point in which they have the option of making a choice.
The abuse of drugs is incredibly powerful. Ask anyone who has ever dealt with a drug addiction and overcome it and they will tell you how much of a struggle it was. The feelings that take over your body while under the influence are potent and wonderful. People love the feeling of being invincible and stress-free. Many addicts find it necessary to have their fix before they can even attempt to begin their days. Sadly enough, an abuse of drugs can and will destroy jobs, friendships, marriages, families and every dimensions of a life that is fathomable. Until someone reaches out for help, it may never be found for them. Perhaps their abuse of drugs leads them to getting in legal trouble and they are forced into getting help for their addiction. Maybe a spouse or family member forces someone to check into an addiction facility and their battle for sobriety can begin.
There is help for someone who has fallen victim to the abuse of drugs. It isnt an easy battle to win and it cannot be won until the individual wholeheartedly wants to bring about that change. Relationships, households and normalcy of lives can be restored if and when someone wants to fight the war against their drug abuse and win.
