Going Mobile with Screensavers

If you own one of these new phones on the market today, then chances are that your phone is able to support an animated wallpaper or better yet, a screensaver. Chances are that you may already have a collection of them and just flip and select the screensaver for the day every time you wake up. However, If you phone does not offer this support, well, perhaps its time to go with the times and get one that does. Assuming that it does offer this support, what then should you know about mobile screensavers?

For one thing, most mobile screensavers are in the format called a GIF image. This type of an image has a .gif extension. Installation of these screensavers is quite easy since all one does is connect the phone to a computer and either transfer the image to a certain folder or simply double click on it and initiate the installation procedure. Menus and buttons will simply pop up asking for the destination folder. Sometimes these screensavers might come in zipped folders. In such cases, you may need to unzip them first using utility software like WinZip after which you transfer the unzipped images to the appropriate folder on your phone.

A search online will bring up countless websites that offer mobile screensavers and most of them at absolutely no cost. If you want to download a certain screensaver, all you have to do is identify the theme and you are good to go. By themes we mean whether they fall in the category of sports, politics, nature, movies, and animations among others. Additionally, some sites may offer the option of whether the screensaver has sound or not.

Screensavers have come to be regarded a bit like ring tones. If you are trendy and pick up a really un-cool screensaver, dont be surprised to find your peer-group flashing the same screensaver the next time you meet. Its advertising at its best. If you are to select one of the mobile screensavers however, it is good to consider the level of graphics and animation. If the screensaver has a lot of colors, sounds and animations, chances are that it will eat up a lot of your battery and you will find yourself charging your phone throughout. Be prudent and select one that is neither too dull, for fear of your reputation, and neither too flashy and give your phone a break, it too deserves one, once in a while.
